Prosciutto Wrapped Cantaloupe & Feta Bites

Updated: Jul 20

There is a distinct magic that happens when intense saltiness collides with pure, juicy sweetness. In the classic kitchens of Italy, you see it celebrated every summer in the simple pairing of prosciutto e melone. But at my table, we are giving this old-world favorite a sharp, savory twist.

By neatly layering a precise cube of rich, briny feta cheese right over a sweet block of ripe cantaloupe and wrapping it tightly in a velvety ribbon of prosciutto, the flavor profile completely transforms. Left un-skewered to showcase their beautiful, clean geometric lines and crowned with a single leaf of fresh basil.

Prosciutto Wrapped Cantaloupe & Feta Bites

  • Servings: 15

  • Prep Time: 15 min

  • Cook Time: 0 min

Ingredients

  • Cantaloupe (or Honeydew): 15 uniform cubes (about ¼ of a small melon)

  • Feta Cheese: 15 small squares (cut from a standard 7–8 oz block of feta in brine)

  • Prosciutto: 5 thin slices (roughly 2 oz, or a little over half of a standard 3 oz package), sliced into thirds lengthwise

  • Fresh Basil: 15 small leaves or med sized leaves torn.

  • Optional Garnish: A drizzle of high-quality extra virgin olive oil or aged balsamic glaze

Instructions

1. Prep the Components

Using a sharp knife, cut your cantaloupe into 1-inch geometric cubes. Carefully slice your block of feta into slightly thinner matching squares that sit perfectly on top of the melon.

2. Cut the Prosciutto

Lay out your slices of prosciutto and cut each piece lengthwise into 3 equal strips.

3. The Wrap

Stack one square of feta directly over a cube of cantaloupe. Wrap a single strip of prosciutto snugly around the center of the block, pressing down slightly so the natural moisture of the ham helps it stick together and stand flat.

4. Garnish

Finish each bite by pressing a single small leaf of fresh basil onto the top layer of the prosciutto.

5. Serve

Arrange the blocks cleanly on a solid white platter. If desired, give them a faint gloss of premium olive oil right before your guests arrive.
